“…Seeing the community band together to create impressive events and assist members of the community in need has been the most rewarding thing…”

Last year I graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Laws and Diploma of Language in advanced Chinese. I currently work at PwC Singapore in the Global Structuring team and have previously worked with Grant Thornton Australia in the Corporate Tax department.

I enjoy dancing in my spare time as it is a creative, engaging and fun source of exercise. I also like to read. I read in bed every single night before I sleep. My new Kindle has been my favourite item since I bought it.

Seeing the community band together to create impressive events and assist members of the community in need has been the most rewarding thing. I have learnt to appreciate my heritage and multicultural values. I have developed pride in my history and pride for my community.

Once you have gained appreciation for yourself and others and understand that being unique is strength, it impacts every aspect of your life. In terms of work, you bring a different dimension to the table and add value to the discussion by offering a different perspective.

Working with the community has also taught me key communication skills. Having the ability to communicate effectively will be beneficial to you whether that is in your personal or work life.

I hope that I have set an example for other young Thai-Aussies in the community. Notwithstanding your age or country of birth, you can contribute to the community and play an important role. Your voice will be heard and your opinions do matter. Doing volunteer community work has been one of the most valuable things I have accomplished thus far. Seeing the results of hours of work and dedication to better the community is indescribable. I encourage anyone interested to contact the team and get involved!
